Mochi Craze

These cute baby hats were knitted by Martita, one of my oldest (not  in age) and loyal customers.  Would you have guessed that these were knitted on an antique sock machine?  I have never seen one but they create some amazing works of art – and fast.  We can add Martita to the list of Mini Mochi lovers.

Lima

Rowan’s new yarn for fall, “Lima,” has kicked off the knitting season!  It’s been a huge hit – we sold 37 skeins the first day.  The 15 designs (13 sweaters for guys and gals) in the pattern book The Lima Collection are not only great but very wearable.  The yarn is a cabled construction which makes it plush, and the fiber content of baby alpaca, merino and a bit of nylon makes it extra soft.

(On the) Fence Hat

Most of us know about the curse of knitting your boyfriend a sweater.  So if you’re on the fence you can safely knit him this hat, which requires 2 skeins of yarn and a weekend.  Finally a great guy’s hat (that looks great on gals too)!  Visit the store and get your free hat pattern with yarn purchase.

Double Brioche

Combo Double Brioche
No it’s not a sinful pastry but the pattern that piques the most curiosity.  So here’s the pattern for those who want to take on the challenge.  It’s a bit tricky (not recommended with wine or TV), but fun once you get the hang of it.  This 3-dimensional pattern which is part lace, part slip stitch is adapted from my favorite knitting pattern book, A Treasury of Knitting Patterns, Vol 1 (there are 4 volumes), by Barbara Walker.

Look how different the pattern looks with various yarns.
